It was almost too perfect.
Out of well over a hundred thousand entries submitted to our “Name in the Game” event, the small–randomly generated!–list of potential winners included the name “Payton Lane Easter.” We couldn’t make up a more fitting name for a citizen of Columbia if we tried. So we didn’t. Our art leads chose it unanimously. Congratulations, Mr. Easter.
So here’s the in-world advertisement for Payton Lane Easter & Sons Premium Automated Stallions. It was created by Irrational artist Mike Swiderek.
Keep your eye out for it when you watch the next BioShock Infinite gameplay demonstration to be shown at E3. And check back on the Irrational site later this week for another unique opportunity.

Man…no wonder I didn’t win…that name is way too stereotypically American.
felonious | May 16, 2011 11:36 am
Looking back it’s kind of amusing how everyone thought it was going to be some exotic name
1019ice | May 9, 2011 2:31 pm
That is the awesomest thing I’ve seen in literally ever. Now I want a robot pony.
rybow73 | May 13, 2011 2:05 pm
But then you’d have to clean up all the robot droppings and brush its robot mane. So much work.
felonious | May 16, 2011 11:37 am
That’s the job of the automated butler named Jeeves.
ngsoftwork | May 9, 2011 2:36 pm
Of couse i ll check this game out! I already check the website out everyday! ahah 😉 Keep it up guys!!
muskellounger | May 9, 2011 2:38 pm
Great fan service right there. What’s next???
felonious | May 10, 2011 2:26 am
Another unique opportunity later this week!!! Going to be hard to get good sleep the next few days.
willlebaron | May 9, 2011 2:41 pm
I thought there was going to be more than 1 name used but I guess with 100k entries either way its little chance of getting in there. You guys should use some of the other names for random enemies and when you scavenge their bodies for supplies you see the name (assuming thats how this one works too). Anyway cant wait for the game!
felonious | May 16, 2011 11:38 am
Just to be able to do that, I’m they would have to send out and get legal papers signed by the people they would want to use.
felonious | May 9, 2011 2:52 pm
Congrats to the winner!!!! A great name to be Bioshock Infinite! I know I will be thinking of this contest when I see that ad in game. Great Job Irrational for this awesome contest.
felonious | May 9, 2011 2:53 pm
Also Great work by Mike Swiderek, looking at the automated horse, makes me want to go buy one!
japester | May 9, 2011 3:32 pm
Fantastic use of the name! That artwork is amazing.
Payton will be able to proudly refer back to that for the rest of his life. ^_^
ragingmudcrab | May 9, 2011 4:26 pm
Wow, a really fitting name.
magicmaker | May 9, 2011 4:26 pm
Can’t say I wish it wasn’t me but you can’t win them all so …
Congrats to the winner!
So let’s here from him and see how he feels.
magicmaker | May 9, 2011 4:39 pm
And maybe he can give us a discount on an automated stallion! There’s no finer way to travel.
excuseforjuice | May 9, 2011 5:16 pm
Beautiful. I’d really like to meet this Easter fellow.
dannysal | May 9, 2011 5:22 pm

But Infinite made them better, haha.
evans0305 | May 10, 2011 7:22 pm
Payton Lane Easter, possibly the best name ever to be chosen. Congrats to you, sir.

evans0305 | May 11, 2011 8:13 pm
@ magicmaker,
t’s mentioned in the bottom of the blog.
magicmaker | May 11, 2011 8:27 pm
I must be going blind or have selective memory. I remembered reading every sentence except the last. Must of been to damn excited about the ponies!
felonious | May 12, 2011 2:23 am
Heh, it happens to all of us magicmaker!
rybow73 | May 12, 2011 7:38 pm
The next competition shall be mine! 😉
felonious | May 16, 2011 11:40 am
If you do win by putting in the fix, I’m blaming you for the psn hack!
icegrove | May 11, 2011 11:21 am
Mama, I wana ride that Easter pony.
gladiator49 | June 5, 2011 10:08 am
^ I lol’d
ftrapture | May 11, 2011 7:44 pm
Curse me and my generic uncool name..
felonious | May 12, 2011 2:26 am
This is something everyone who didn’t win can actually blame on their parents!
rybow73 | May 12, 2011 7:39 pm
I blame everything on my parents anyway.
felonious | May 16, 2011 11:40 am
That is unhealthy.
likwaychan | May 11, 2011 7:52 pm
lucky…
gregbright | May 11, 2011 11:31 pm
Are those bad boys gonna be ride-able in game?
ismell | May 12, 2011 1:26 pm
HAHA “automated horses”! Reminds me of the Henry Ford thing of “If I’d asked my customers what they wanted, they’dve asked for a faster horse”.
I’m happy with the guy who won, “Payton Lane Easter” is a perfect name.
rybow73 | May 12, 2011 7:40 pm
Horses with nitrous.
felonious | May 13, 2011 1:13 am
My automated horse is going to have diamond horseshoe spinners!
chrisredfield | May 12, 2011 11:05 pm
Well that’s cool. I wonder if we’ll get to use one in the game…
felonious | May 13, 2011 12:46 am
Not sure if we will use one, considering we have the sky hook, but I could def see some mounted enemies, charging at Booker!
rybow73 | May 13, 2011 1:09 am
I’m assuming we won’t be able to ride the horses, considering in the first gameplay trailer they were going considerably slow…but that may change over time, I suppose.
chrisredfield | May 13, 2011 1:32 am
People… Charging at Booker… While riding mechaical horses… IN A FLYING CITY. Yup. Just another day in Columbia.
felonious | May 13, 2011 1:34 am
Yeah just another day, I bet that is only the tip of the iceberg!!!
chrisredfield | May 13, 2011 1:46 am
That almost makes me wonder just how many days will Infinite take place over? I’d be a little pissed if it happened “all in one day”. That would be kinda corny…
felonious | May 13, 2011 2:12 am
How many days do you think the original Bioshock took place in? I mean besides when Tenenbaum comes to the rescue, their really isn’t anything which would lead you to think it took very long at all. Whether Infinite takes place in one day or one year, lets see how it plays out before getting pissed.
rybow73 | May 13, 2011 2:03 pm
Maybe it takes place all on Booker’s lunch break.
juan29zapata | May 13, 2011 6:03 pm
Dammit, I knew my Spanish name would just not work for this contest!
But I had to try it anyway!
deltadrill | May 15, 2011 10:46 am
what a name!
warsmith13 | May 15, 2011 5:07 pm
hahaha thats a great name! congrats to Mr. Easter!!
bluejacket | May 20, 2011 9:32 am
ha. good name, for some reason i thought my stereotypical name of salvatore giordano would win it
picopico | May 22, 2011 1:36 pm
Robots in 1914? Robots weren’t even concieved until 1927. That’s more fuel for the time travel theory 😀
felonious | May 22, 2011 2:20 pm
No not really, it just means the alternate world Bioshock Infinite takes place is more advanced in certain areas.
evans0305 | May 26, 2011 8:03 pm
Have you heard of Automatons? they existed centuries before robots, and judging by the appearance of this stallion in last year’s gameplay video, it’s more of an automaton than a robot.
quancro | May 22, 2011 1:44 pm
congratulations ..
undeniably | May 27, 2011 10:07 am
I have a pretty WASP-y name, but this definitely tops it.
gladiator49 | June 1, 2011 6:36 am
Congratulations to the winner.
maksim91720 | June 2, 2011 8:00 am
Maxime, Maksim Steinwedel
felonious | June 2, 2011 8:40 am
Hate to break it to ya, the contest is over.
cactusclimber | June 15, 2011 5:48 pm
Wish they would do a couple of these. /:
