BioShock Infinite is on the cover of EGM magazine this month, and you can check out the full digital companion issue for free. It includes a lengthy interview with our creative director Ken Levine, which can be watched in video form or read as a transcript.
That gorgeous cover, by Irrational’s art team, marks the first time we’re showing the official face of Infinite‘s protagonist, Booker DeWitt. And while the Ken interview is the primary focus of the feature, there’s also a nifty sidebar with background on a number of Infinite inspirations like the 1893 Columbia World’s Fair, the roots of the female figure Columbia as national personification, and–of course–zeppelins.

Awesome news! Glad I just renewed in time to get this issue!
knives | July 6, 2011 2:37 pm
Wow…never thought we’d see Booker’s face…dude’s younger than I thought.
japester | July 7, 2011 12:24 am
Ditto. I don’t know why, but I pictured him as a much older fellow. No real reason for it, I guess. Heh! That cover is gorgeous.
fuchipatas | July 6, 2011 3:08 pm
I’ll have to pick this issue up for sure!
Haven’t subscribed to EGM in years.
boltonhawser | July 6, 2011 3:13 pm
Oh look, it’s Nathan Drake’s grandfather. XD Oh god, this art is stunning! Booker looks so badass! I’m really happy he has a face.
mcroddi | July 6, 2011 3:24 pm
Fantastic Art, love the way he looks.
bluejacket | July 6, 2011 3:49 pm
younger than i thought, but still awesome. glad to see that this protaganist wont go faceless or voiceless
1srkarkan | July 6, 2011 4:20 pm
It’s always the same. I just hear the voice of someone and in my mind is a bit of a picture of the person. Then i see the person and everything is changed. T-T
It would have been better when you wouldn’t showed him…
PS:
If you want to get that funny feeling again, that you create a picture of a person in your mind, and in reality everything looks diffirent?
Search for this: Suicide Silence – Disengage
I still have to laugh when i see that guy ;D
muskellounger | July 6, 2011 4:24 pm
Hmm…an alarm sounds off, then your bombarded by a zepplin…with Infinite ways to take it down…sign me up!
cycrum | July 6, 2011 4:59 pm
Thought he was alot older aswell, but he looks cool
boltonhawser | July 6, 2011 9:10 pm
If you look at the wanted posters, Booker is a solid 37 years old so for everyone worrying about him being younger than expected, I’m sure his words and experience will still remain as wise and grizzled as we had originally hoped for.
boltonhawser | July 6, 2011 5:34 pm
Hmm slightly spiked, matted hair. Manly looking stubble. And a prominent lower lip. I cant wait to play as Ken in his own game!
roguewriter | July 6, 2011 6:07 pm
Loving the cover. But, come on, if anyone looks at this cover and see’s anyone other then Jude Law, you’ve got blinders on or you’re not looking close enough. If I’m even remotely correct, I approve. I think his face fits the setting/story quite well. My thanks to Ken and IG for clearing this reveal for the fans.
ediazdeleon | July 6, 2011 7:29 pm
Is it me or is this just a coincidence???

evans0305 | July 7, 2011 12:21 am
Yep, ediazdeleon. Levine just admitted on his Twitter that X-Men #141 was the inspiration.
alexradovan | July 6, 2011 7:37 pm
Wait…I thought he wore a suit?
jayakers | July 6, 2011 7:41 pm
Nice catch ediazdeleon
Still… amazing stuff! And while I don’t see Jude Law, I do think he looks like someone else but i’ll hold that opinion.
And ya, I was thinking maybe mid to late 40’s for Booker… looks like he turned out a tad younger 😛
juan29zapata | July 6, 2011 9:18 pm
Fantastic. Art. That is all.
Great job with Booker’s face, just about what I imagined for him.
rye0077r | July 6, 2011 9:48 pm
Wait, is that Ewan McGregor? I really dig the cover!!
ragingmudcrab | July 6, 2011 11:06 pm

quancro | July 6, 2011 11:33 pm

alexradovan | July 7, 2011 12:20 am
Adam? Adam was just the genetic currency of Rapture, you played as Jack.
But I agree, they should showcase his face.
evans0305 | July 7, 2011 12:30 am
The closest tthing o showing Jack’s face was these photos of him.

I wonder if showcasing Booker’s face this early means we might get some cinematics from a POV outside our own….? Where we can see both Booker and Elizabeth react to something. Hmm.
knightcarver | July 7, 2011 12:52 am
Yes very cool…I didn’t think we’d see a face either.
shocker22 | July 7, 2011 2:37 am
Booker is Dr. House!?
roxxestar | July 7, 2011 12:18 pm
Exactly like I thought.
reaperchris | July 7, 2011 7:32 pm
First you IG guys give him voice and now a face. I think is easier to identify with him as a player this way. Is there any chance you could upload the art or the cover as a downloadable wallpaper? I would put it ASAP on my desktop. Love the poses and overall looks of both Booker and Liz. The “Wanted” posters are nice touch too. Kudos to the IG Artists!!!
russellgorall | July 7, 2011 10:22 pm
I really don’t think it is a good idea giving him a face. Just my humble opinion.
precarious | July 7, 2011 11:02 pm
I’d just like to personally thank you for contributing to my addiction to have to possess all that is BioShock.
chrisredfield | July 8, 2011 1:34 am
Daaaaaamnnnn….. This is great!
aguayocastro | July 8, 2011 4:16 am
EPIC!!! Great cover
icegrove | July 8, 2011 10:28 am
Go Booker!
batchick21 | July 8, 2011 6:12 pm
Booker looks awesome, for some odd reason I pictured an slightly older guy, clean shaven, and wearing a “Bill Cosby” Sweater lol. Can’t wait to get this next year!
michaelm624 | July 8, 2011 9:07 pm
Now That we know what Booker looks like all i can imagine is him doing all these stunts 😀
aguayocastro | July 10, 2011 2:14 pm
I want the game already >.<
bluestar334 | July 14, 2011 10:27 pm
finally we all know how Booker looks like!
cainabel | July 15, 2011 9:58 am
The problem is that spiked hair wasn’t popular back in that time. Hair was supposed to look more professional for me, more patted down and not shaggy how Booker has it. I think that’s the only flaw on the cover though.
joelotoole | July 15, 2011 1:08 pm
He looks pretty epic
loyalhenchman21 | July 15, 2011 5:29 pm
Is it just me or does the magazine cover of Booker and Elizabeth remind you of the x-men comic cover of Days of Future Past with Wolverine and Kitty Pryde even down to the brick wall alleyway with the wanted posters if the artist meant to do it nice touch if not well then my geekyness is showing
evans0305 | July 15, 2011 8:43 pm
It’s been confirmed on Ken Levine’s Twitter that the X-Men cover is the inspiration.
callumsmith | July 16, 2011 12:23 pm
cool!
joelotoole | July 16, 2011 3:28 pm
He looks like somone though
senyadraquille | July 16, 2011 8:17 pm

kelzow20 | July 17, 2011 9:30 pm

devilturnip360 | July 17, 2011 11:36 pm

richardmcsundy | July 29, 2011 1:46 pm

loyalharry007 | August 6, 2011 8:50 pm
wow it very cool
precarious | August 11, 2011 6:10 pm
FINALLY picked this up as well as the cover on PC gamer. I can’t believe how EXPENSIVE the magazine has gotten. I used to love it because it was free and once a year you could get a free subscription… I’m guessing they don’t do that anymore judging by the price. Still, a must have.
