Over the next few weeks, we’ll be releasing a series of video featurettes with Ken Levine explaining aspects of BioShock Infinite‘s gameplay and world. First up is Sky-Lines, the rollercoaster-like freight networks that cross-cross Columbia and facilitate movement and combat.
Stay tuned for more of these videos–and then the release of the full E3 2011 gameplay demonstration.

wow, loved the chinese pisole, lol, looks great Levine, thanks! but will it have affect on booker, like for instance, can you hear him whimper sort of, or get dizzy?
senyadraquille | June 15, 2011 2:00 pm
and i mean the sky lines, if you read it wrong it looks like im talking straight about the pistol.

I can’t get enough new info on this game. I mean honestly guys, you look like you’re completelly outdoing your own work in the original Bioshock. Sky-line combat is one of the coolest(and seemingly best executed) design idea’s I’ve seen in an FPS this gen. I think my breath was literally taken away a bit there lol.

I think Irrational is the type of game developers whose goal it is to completely outdo themselves. I doubt they would have made a ballsy move like taking us from such an adored setting as Rapture straight to the skies if they didn’t believe that they had the power to make some of the most extraordinary games this generation has seen.
senyadraquille | June 12, 2011 9:10 pm
i totaly agree.
tiagoteixeira | June 10, 2011 6:07 pm
It looks really great and if it plays as it looks, it’s really intuitive 😀
tuntun692 | June 10, 2011 6:17 pm
I think the more I hear about this game the more I fall in love with it. I’ll end up loving Booker as much as I loved Jack. Amazing
outkast2 | June 10, 2011 6:34 pm
It really looks as though Infinite is going to be amazing!
jub8jub | June 10, 2011 9:25 pm
looking very nice. The sky-lnes will be cool to ride. Too bad I’m scared of heights.
elliotttamer | June 10, 2011 10:03 pm
Despite my excitement, I was rather worried that the Sky-lines system would be either too hard to control or would, instead of augmenting, substitute other gameplay mechanics, such as combat.
But this video completely proved to be the solution to my worries: it demonstrates how well-incorporated into the game they are and I feel as if, given the chance, I could easily move around using them.
I was a little disappointed at the lack of news regarding BioShock Infinite at E3, but if they do release a series of videos like this and then a gameplay demo, they will be making much more than simply up for it!

The skyline footage really does look fantastic, as does the whole game so far. Just bummed, it looks like it will be a much longer wait for the full gameplay demo, since it seems it will be the last release of the upcoming videos. I’m sure it will be worth the wait!
huntertl1 | June 11, 2011 2:58 am
looks great and cant wait to play it keep up the great work levine
svenderson | June 11, 2011 8:26 am
Amazing stuff, that’s for sure… also lovely colors everywhere!
One thing keeps me wondering though… I understand the skylines weren’t build for people transportation, but how then were the regular citizens of Columbia supposed to move around town? Airships maybe?
mangledrex | June 11, 2011 8:34 am
With every video I see of this it makes me more depressed because it’s not out until next year
ugh the waits a killer
;-;
movielord101 | June 11, 2011 10:28 am
Cool vid! Keep ’em coming, guys!
magicmaker | June 11, 2011 10:29 am
Ok the Sky-hook footage looks great now you just need a “Cool Jazz” nostrum. What’s it do.. it makes everything smoother, of course. Booker takes a sip, he hears music in his head and relaxes, he just flows… instead of the wild flaying arms & screaming like a school girl. 🙂
chrisredfield | June 11, 2011 6:32 pm
So basically it would be like: “My Grandmother drank all my Pot…”
borrego | June 11, 2011 4:25 pm
There is absolutely, positively ZERO possibility that this game will disappoint. Every bit of news makes the game more and more intriguing. I almost want to plug my ears and cover my eyes till its release, so on that launch day, I can wander Columbia the same way I did in Rapture: in complete awe of the mystery, having no idea what kind of insanity I’m about to encounter!
chrisredfield | June 11, 2011 6:30 pm
Danm… Guess there’s no need to go to my County Fair next year…
rabid619 | June 11, 2011 9:15 pm
Loving everything I’ve seen of Infinite so far, the last 20 seconds of that video were… wow.
cycrum | June 12, 2011 12:12 am

dannysal | June 12, 2011 7:49 pm
Just enough to whet our appetite but yearning for more. Bastards! 🙂
bigdaddy95 | June 12, 2011 11:52 pm
I hope the next video will explain whats in these vigors and nostrums that give them their POWER – ful kick !
mynameis | June 13, 2011 3:57 am
Possibly. But i think that the next video will definetly (Unless it is the gameplay demo) have a Nostrum or 2 in it.
musecuts | June 13, 2011 10:39 am
That looks fantastic.
perfectdarkling | June 13, 2011 11:36 am
Amazing! Flipping around sky-lines is gonna be so nasty.
durandan | June 14, 2011 1:10 am
I found this entertaining. Unfortunately, now I need to go change my a post I made from Skyline to Sky-Line or it is going to bug the heck out of me.
murdochnewman | June 14, 2011 4:38 am

murdochnewman | June 14, 2011 6:44 pm
