Rapture in Lego

on June 16 2011

Demonstrating the kind of industriousness that Andrew Ryan would appreciate, Lego builder Imagine Rigney has constructed an incredible cross-section of Rapture, including the plane crash that opens BioShock and numerous meticulously-recreated locations from the game.

There’s impressive attention to detail in both the interiors and exteriors, with miniaturized posters from the game adorning the walls and blue-tinted lighting evoking the oceanic environment.

Rigney created this set for Chicago’s Brickworld 2011, going on this week. Be sure to check out the full gallery of shots.

    Amazing! Truly.

Assuming Rigney thought process upon completion:

“It was not impossible to build Lego Rapture at my house. It was impossible to build it anywhere else.” 😉

LEGOs have been some of my favorite toys for over 35 years. I *still* play with them! LOL. There are at least 6 or 7 sets right now in my living room. But this….this is a work of art. Stunning design elements and attention to detail. Since people can now create their own custom kits to be sold on Lego.com, I wonder how much all these parts would cost……?

You used the words no Bioshock fan can refuse. I don’t know for sure, but I’m estimating I used between 18,000 – 20,000 pieces. Thanks for asking so kindly. 🙂

Congratulations you found him! I try to slip him in to my builds. Now this is when he shouts “It’s a Trap!” and uses a teleportation plasmid and disappears.

I’m glad I don’t have any LEGO creations near me right now. I think I would destroy them in shame. That is a really great piece of work you have there.
