Ten Things You Should Know About BioShock Infinite: Day 10

on September 20 2010

As Booker DeWitt, your mission in BioShock Infinite is to track down Elizabeth and extract her from Columbia. But the powers that be holding primary control over the city very much want to keep her imprisoned, just as she’s been for the last fifteen years. Meanwhile, the internationalist Vox Populi faction, which has become increasingly radicalized and militant, wants control over Elizabeth for its own ends. With the United States having officially severed contact with Columbia in the wake of a devastating international incident, the conflict between these two groups has been left to escalate.

This is the last in a series of short posts about BioShock Infinite that have been released one a day leading up to the unveiling of its first gameplay demonstration. That ten-minute video will go live tomorrow, September 21, on Xbox LIVE and Xbox.com, and September 22 here on IrrationalGames.com and elsewhere.

Sounds comparable to being dropped in Rapture during the start of the Civil War. Sounds highly intriguing; absolutely looking forward to learning more about it. 😀

I hope that neither faction will emerge as the obvious villain and the other as the obvious hero. In the original Bioshock, Ryan was something of an anti-villain, but I would have preferred making him a bit more sympathetic (i.e. his motives for trying to kill you weren’t entirely clear, other than his original misconception of you as a KGB spook). Fontaine could certainly have used some softening, and Sophia Lamb too. In any event, I’m just hoping we have a meaningful choice between the 2 factions and we have plenty of gray morality (cf. any Bioware game).

I am hoping that Bioshock Infinite will bring Garry Schyman as the musician. I felt he contributed quite a bit to the Bioshock serie’s auditory pull.
