The third installment of our Heavy Hitters may surprise you. Instead of brute force and heavy artillery, these guys only use sound — it’s all they’ll need to get your adrenaline flowing as you check your ammo and run for cover. It’s time to cover your ears: Here come the Boys of Silence.

I for one am intrigued! I’d kind of like to see some gameplay footage of this guy in action, but I think I’d rather wait until the shipping game to be surprised.
rumble | March 20, 2012 9:21 am
That is really an interesting “enemy”.
Though you are definitely not showing too much, I’m wondering if all those videos won’t ruin the surprise, the pleasure to discover these things. I don’t want to feel the same way when I played Arkham City. Warner Bros. did reveal almost all the vilains and I felt the lack of surprise/discovery. I don’t want to get this again, especially for a game like Bioshock Infinite.

Holy crap!… This game is gonna be wild. Wild, I tell ya!
ismell | March 20, 2012 10:05 am
Wow, that’s a… weird one…
I guess this will blend in a lot more in-game than it will just as a youtube video
sarcasticlizard | March 20, 2012 10:07 am
These videos keep getting shorter…..
hunterdavidross | March 20, 2012 12:24 pm
BRING THEM ON!!!!!!!
losstarot | March 20, 2012 1:24 pm
Short vid but on purpose! I like that level of weirdness and the name that comes with this hitter. And with this I’m wondering what means of walking stealthily will be able to you.
precipice66 | March 20, 2012 1:38 pm
Creepy, especially if they have the freedom to roam around looking for you. Completely out of left field that one!
muskellounger | March 20, 2012 1:41 pm
What a great concept, love it. Can’t wait to see what happens when I melee that helmet.
shocker22 | March 20, 2012 2:11 pm
I must see these dudes in action! Super Creepy!
devilturnip360 | March 20, 2012 2:18 pm
man that thing looks heavy
devilturnip360 | March 20, 2012 2:25 pm
so theyre basicly giant fog horns
icegrove | March 20, 2012 3:09 pm
Do you hear that? That is the sound of Boys of Silence…
japester | March 20, 2012 4:43 pm
As soon as I saw a pic and read a brief description, I let out a small, involuntary gasp. Proof positive you pegged my personal creep meter. Seems like you can’t let me enjoy any of your digital worlds without making my skin crawl from time to time.
I was okay with the MP, since it’s not self-aware. I was okay with the Handyman because it’s still a human brain in charge of all that hardware. But this….this is a person subverted by tech. Forced to give up at least one basic sense, and likely it’s own free will as well. A living hell. And it’s a child, too….

Everyone seems to be overlooking the fact that the provided screenshot doesn’t look like Columbia. Short video inorder to avoid spoilers?
juan29zapata | March 20, 2012 5:55 pm
It is Columbia! It’s just at night!
newro1ism | April 3, 2012 5:50 am
I can see skylines.
juan29zapata | March 20, 2012 5:58 pm
I’ve always thought that the creepiest things are the ones that have this mysterious element to them that doesn’t let me understand what they do or what they are.
I hope this enemy remains like this until the game is released! Awesome design, guys!
jonathonridgway | March 21, 2012 2:56 pm
I like the concept but visually i don’t really like them, they seem too clunky, I’m sure gamplay mechanic wise they will be interesting enemies but i feel like the game as of now doesnt really have the same feel visually as the other 2 games. I don’t mean that the style doesn’t match that of 1 and 2 because obviously it’s not supposed to, but I don’t feel like all the different visual styles showcased in the previews go together. No disrespect intended, I still have complete faith that Irrational’s going to blow us away with Bioshock Infinite, but as of now im still a bit offput by the different syles and mechanics i’ve seen
berwin | March 21, 2012 5:34 pm
When I hear the word clunky, something large, efficient, and clumsy comes to mind. They appear to have long, gaunt figures and, since their senses are limited, may have significantly heightened perception in other areas. Who knows, they may turn out to be one of the more stealthy and agile foes found throughout the game. Overall, it’s a very interesting concept and makes Bioshock: Infinite coming to fruition even more exciting. Personally, though, I think the Boys of Silence look much more scary than the other enemies shown in the Heavy Hitters videos.

Great creepy design which is probably my favorite so far of the Heavy Hitters. Looking forward to seeing him in action!
warsmith13 | March 21, 2012 9:45 pm
probably the creepiest imo, would definetly NOT like to see more about him though.. it’d ruin the surprise;)
thewriter | March 21, 2012 11:02 pm
Reminds me of the little sisters, i nerver harvested one, and i finished that game over 10 times… i think i will sneak and pass trough them, i dont think that i can shoot a poor kid… even if it’s just a videogame….
nintendoll | March 22, 2012 12:25 am
It’s good to see a little of that horror element in Columbia. In Bioshock it wasn’t as difficult to pull off scares because of the dark and enclosed environment. I was a little worried that the game would be 100% action…now I’m pumped to discover the inevitable small, scripted scare scenes.

Weird and odd
wingsofthread | April 11, 2012 9:50 pm
Love Love Love Love this idea! It was soo neat to hear and see the concept evolve in the panel at PAX East last weekend. I’m really excited to see them in game. Those sounds! Creepy!
butterflyflash | May 1, 2012 11:02 am
I love that they replaced the security bots and cameras with these guys, I look forward to try to sneak around them x)
